Hi, I would like every devout Christian to please pray for me becuase I have been struggling w/ listening to Secular RandB music. I think that the Holy SPirit is prompting me to not listen to it but then there is a thought that always comes like, "Is there anything about listening to a song about the love a man and woman share together?" It is kind of like in the bible when God told Adam and Eve don;t eat from that tree but then the devil just gave them a reason why they should. But I was just in another forum and it seemed as if the Holy Spirit asked me, "Do the songs about the love of a man and woman Glorify God throughtout the song" So, that would be no. Like, they should thak God for the love they share." So, I am going to continue to pray on this issue and would like if you would pray for me to? Is all R'B music bad?

When I was younger I didn't pay attention to music lyrics - I just listened to what seemed to be fun without thought to what the message may have been. Soon I would come across friends and relatives who would share fond memories of earlier times which they were reminded of from music from their past.

Only after having grown children listening to music which promoted racism, sex, murder, cursing and elevated gangs to cool status did I realize the affect that the messages in music had on individuals. It also caused me to reflect on lyrics of songs I once listened to and how now in my heart I find myself ashamed of ever listening to such music.

There are many that praise the Lord in lyrics - but not in feeling when I listen to them. This conviction comes from within - as does all that I now attribute to the Lord as He guides my path in life.

Music is a gift from God, and He inspires us to create songs inspired by many of His creations - Most notably love. Though I never liked classical music (mostly easy-listening) I find that my favorite song is Handel's Messiah. When listening to this song I truly feel God's presence and his inspiration in it's creation - though I still don't understand all the words.

I don't feel any type of music is right or wrong (though most types today I doubt are inspired by the Lord) I had to ask myself if the music I was listening to was calming to my own spirit and whether Jesus would like it.
Just let His Spirit guide your listening preferences.

Thank you very much for taking the time out to respond to my question. I think that, well I know that I will stop listening to secular music. Yesterday, I tore up my cds and will continue to pray on the answer Raymond received for me.

Also. I would like to pray over certain places in my campus because there has been some demonic activity happening in my friends dorm room. I also have seen postings for a Wiccan i.e. Witch organization . I would like to gather atleast 10 Christians together and pray and put bless oil in these places but Idon't know how to go about making the bless oil.

Thanks

Hi e1Lewis,
Recently a lady from wife's job told my wife that I was crazy because I threw all my R & B music when I gotten saved for real. I love Jesus Christ because He willing gave His life for me and is willing to give me a chance to know Him. I dont care what people think me because I dont listen to that garbage anymore. Satan will try to temp with this stuff so be wise and sober because He doesn't want to you, or I, or anybody really live free. But who the Son has sat free is free indeed. I pray will pray for you that you will grow in Christ.
