TOPIC: 9 yr old needs urgent prayer

9 yr old needs urgent prayer 5 years ago #3149

From Susan Reynolds

21 April 2007

I have a request for our family, we have had more devastating health problems come into our family. My 9 year old nephew was rushed to emergency yesterday and was found to have an inoperable brain tumor on the brain stem, it is on the pain transmitters so he is having severe headaches requiring morphine. He is scheduled for a spinal tap and more brain scans. They are hoping maybe radiation and drug therapy can shrink the tumor, it is not known If it is malignant but they are fearful that it is. He also has fluid developing around the tumor. He is in the critical care unit of one of the best children's hospitals in the nation in CA.

Please put him on your prayer chains.

Miracles can happen and he needs one. His name is Ezra Chatterton.

Thanks

Please continue prayers for Ezra, our 9 year old nephew. He is going down hill pretty fast with his brain tumor. He had a seizure on his way to am MRI in the hospital and is now blind, he is in terrible pain and is very weak. He desperately needs all your prayers for him and for the family. So terrible, just a few weeks ago he was just a happy little boy.

9 yr old boy dying with Tumor. 5 years ago #3156

Hi All,

I received the following from Sue on 27 Apr. 2007 about the latest condition of the 9 year old boy with a tumor.

From Susan Reynolds

The doctors give no hope for Ezra. He is terminal at only 10 years old. Please continue to pray for him and to pray for his family. He is Michah's (his dad) whole world, and he is devastated. Chris and Keith helped raise Ezra the first half of his life, so it is hitting them extremely hard. Please Pray, miracles can still happen.

update on Ezra, the 10 yr old boy with Terminal Cancer. 5 years ago #3157

Here is the Latest update on Ezra, the 10 yr old boy with Terminal Cancer.

Micah just got preliminary biopsy results that the cancer is stage 3 (bad; stage 4 is the worst) metastasized Glioma, which is a cancer specifically limited to the brain and spinal cord. Once again, the good and the bad. It's an extremely dangerous form of cancer, but the good news is that it is extremely responsive to new forms of therapy, specifically ones that are being pioneered in LA al City of Hope arid Cedars-Sinai.

The chemotherapy is based on a drug called Cnlorotoxin (for those of you who are Googlers), and it is derived from the venom of an Israeli scorpion. (God works in mysterious ways!)

One thing that Ezra had said when he woke up was that he had been in Heaven, but had to come back, and he did not want to go to Hell. We aren't sure if it was a bad dream, some sort of vision, or really happened to him, but we do ask you to continue in prayer for him, Micah, and Elizabeth.

We were able to visit somewhat with Ezra for about an hour tonight. He was in a lot of pain still, and full of morphine, but responsive at times. He did ask us to pray for him and with him, smiled a little when I asked if I could take his picture, and said that he wanted several toys that Jacob had sent over for him. The weight of having a serious illness is hitting him hard; it's hard enough to be sick when you're older, but especially hard when you are 10!

We are so blessed to have so many of you lifting up Ezra and his family in prayer.

Your prayers are being answered 5 years ago #3158

Hi all,

An undate about the 10 year old boy Ezra

From Sue

Well all your prayers are working. The type of cancer is being changed again. It is now considered a curable cancer that is very rare. 95% survival rate. It responds well to treatment, but is a very painful cancer until the cancer cells begin to die.

Ezra's eyesight has fully regained they think the medication caused it, and the treatments for this cancer type begin tomorrow. Everyone keep praying as this miracle is unfolding before us, and all the Glory is Gods. Continue to pray for the pain to go away and for total remission and for the family to continue to have strength, also pray for salvation for Ezra's mother. We thank everyone dearly for the prayers, it couldn't have happened without it.

Dear friends and family,

Ezra has gone home! No, he hasn't started chemotherapy or radiation yet, but he has adjusted to oral pain medication and steroids have shrunk the inflammation enough that he was able to go home. We still haven't heard back from M.D. Anderson, the Cancer Center, but all indications are that Ezra will be doing well. We - and he - and all his family - are all so glad that he's been able to get home.

We spent a good part of the last few days getting the house all set up for Ezra, but everything is looking good for him around the house. He'll be having chemo at home, at least at the start.

He's still very weak, and probably lost 20 pounds over the last 2 months he was sick, so Ezra still needs your prayers that his appetite stays strong and that he rebuilds. (He's about 5'3" and less than 100 pounds!) His mom & dad will be able to rest better, so every should be a little stronger for the next fight - the chemo- therapy.
