Don't you realize that it's not stopping things or starting things (activities) that makes you righteous? You can try in your own strength to change, but you can NEVER change your own heart. Trying to change your heart is like trying to change the spots on a leopard or stripes on a zebra. You must come to Me. Let the inside be changed/renewed and the outside will follow. Trying to change this on your own will only lead to self-righteousness and deception. Let me change you. Submit yourselves to Me. Remember, I cannot be deceived. I know your capabilities and your limitations. I know if you really want me, or what you can get from Me. Count the cost because coming to Me without reverence and deep consideration will only heap judgment upon you. So now, what is your choice? Think about it and what it will cost you. There is a cross for anyone that comes and you MUST bear it! I AM with you. I promise to never leave or forsake you. The choice is yours...choose wisely.

28"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? 29For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, 30saying, 'This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.'
31"Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.
