LIVING BY GOD’S WORD
(2 Tim 3:16-17)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good
Works. [THE WORD PERFECT MEANS COMPLETE]
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT LIVING YOUR LIFE BY GOD’S WORD.
(Biblical Example)
(Gen 3:1-13)
1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
[COMMENT] The first mistake is to try and carry on a conversation with the devil. Here is the devil, the arch enemy of God, using a serpent to talk through, and interpreting the word of God. (Don’t carry on a conversation with the devil)
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
[COMMENT] This shows the craftiness of the Devil in quoting God’s word but just adding a word to it to change the whole meaning of what God was saying
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
[COMMENT] The Devil has not changed his tactics in all these centuries. He is still convincing people that they can be a God onto themselves.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
[COMMENT] This is what Adam and Eve sold all of humanity out to. saw that the tree was good for food (that’s lust of the flesh) pleasant to the eyes (that’s lust of the eyes) a tree to be desired to make one wise (that’s pride of life) All of our sins can be tied up to these three category's
(1 Jn 2:16-17)
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father , but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
[COMMENT] This is what happens to everyone that sins against God. You find yourself naked, empty, without, undone, lost, lonely, a sinner. The next thing people want to do is to cover there sin with the works of there own hands. And then they hid themselves from the presence of God.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and 1 was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
[COMMENT] When you are finally confronted with God you are no longer a friend of God. You are no longer walking in the cool of the day with God in perfect harmony. But now fear has come into you, and you try to hid from God.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof! commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
[COMMENT] And the last thing that we try to do when we transgress God’s word, and get caught. We shift the buck to someone else. It is always someone else’s fault, that we did what we did.
