Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life: Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

It strikes me that the Lord is calling for people (Like Ezekiel) to stand in the gap, for Israel, in the battle on the day of the Lord. As the Lord sees all things as present, not as past or future, the battle on the day of the Lord is for us a day still to come, is it not? Just as it was in the time of Ezekiel (a day to come)?
Be careful that we do not fall into the trap of thinking that we (the body/church) are a replacement for Israel (the northern kingdom) in a modern time. We Are Not A Replacement for Israel, the Samaritans ! Judah and Samaria are reflected in our day in protestant and catholic teaching. The separation is much the same, but not a replacement for what was (Israel) and what will come!!!

Hosea 11:12
Ephraim has surrounded me with lies, the house of Israel with deceit. And Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One.

Hosea 2:23
I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called 'Not my loved one. I will say to those called 'Not my people, ' 'You are my people'; and they will say, 'You are my God.' "

Ezekiel 13:5
You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD. (This was spoken to the lying prophets of Israel, not to Ezekiel the true prophet)

Ezekiel 13: 4-6
"Your prophets, O Israel, are like jackals among ruins. You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD. Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, "The LORD declares," when the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled."

(To Repair False Teaching: see what the Lord said would happen to the wall that was whitewashed and how He would expose it's foundation and remove the wall. Ezekiel 13:14)

America is Not A Modern Day Replacement for Israel in these Verses. The promises to Israel are to Israel, the modern day decendents of the chosen people, The Sons of Abraham! (Not those who are spiritual Sons and Daughters)

Absolutely!

The wall needs to be repaired (thru teaching of the truth) by those who obey so that Israel, and ourselves, will be able to stand, walled in (protected) by Jesus, in the battle on the day of the Lord. Clothed in righteousness, Clothed by Christ Jesus, cleansed by His Blood, standing victoriously with/in Him.

They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy.
Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes.

They were having the same problem in Ezekiel's day as today!

But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

(These are men of great faith, but even they would only be able to save themselves.)

Isaiah 33:15-16

So the fire will come, there will be no delaying it, to this nation, just as the nations before it, just as it will come to the whole earth at its appointed time, to test those who live on it.

The time is appointed and it will come, as it must.

So see to your walls, and your armor, but not the walls of your own making, not the armor you fashion yourself, or you will be surprised like the sinners and hypocrites.

2 Timothy 2:11-13
Here is a trustworthy saying:

we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
he will also disown us;
if we are faithless,

for he cannot disown himself.

If we have died then our ways have died with us.

If we live with Him, in Him, then His way is alive in us.

If we endure in His way, then we also will reign with Him.

If we disown Him, He will also disown us.

If we are faithless toward Him, He will remain faithful to Himself, for he will not betray Himself to join us.

What does it mean to abide in Jesus Christ?

To go His way, and not our own.

To do what is right in His eyes, and not our own.

To hear, and obey, and follow after our Shepherd, not wander blindly, not knowing what the Holy Spirit is saying.

To be His brother, mother, sister, not living foolishly, but knowing what the will of the Father is, and doing it.

For the Father and the Son are one, and in one accord.

As the Son was rewarded by the Father for His obedience, so shall those who are obedient to the Son be rewarded by Him, in Him.

This is what it means to be found in Jesus Christ in the day of battle.

Seek the Lord while He may be found. Ask Him to show you the truth of your way, your hedge, and your armor.

Let those who must, confess and repent, forsaking the way of the flesh, the way of their own understanding, and make their habitation in the Lord, and His revelation, and then not depart from it.

The righteous few will not cover for the many. The righteous father will not cover for the son or daughter.

Every one must do this for themselves, because Jesus Christ is the only covering that will endure.
