Acts 15:5-11, 13-14, 19-20, 23-24, 28-29 KJV
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
Comment: There are many modern day Pharisees who continue to command all of us to keep the Law of Moses, such as the keeping of the Seventh day Sabbath, and the keeping of the Dietary laws of Moses. They refuse to use, or acknowledge, the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:10-12) insisting that only another Jewish name be used. And what follows is what the Most Holy Spirit has to say on the matter of such teaching and commands by the modern day Pharisees, as spoken through the Apostles of Jesus Christ.
6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Comment: The Apostles tell the people that the commands by the Pharisees who claim to be Christians, are such that they are going against the commands of God Himself, (Temp ye God) That the Gentiles are to hear the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and Not the Law of Moses.
13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
Comment: God took the Gentiles to be a separate Peoples unto Himself, Separate from the Israelites, and with a different Covenant.
19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Comment: The commands by the Pharisees for the Gentiles to Keep the Law of Moses, are Rejected by the Apostles who are led by the Most Holy Spirit of God. The Apostles list in verse 20 the ONLY requirements that the Gentiles Must keep.
23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
Comment: The Apostles point out in verse 24 that the Pharisees, who are pretending to be Christians, are in fact teaching the keeping of any part of the Law of Moses as Subverting their souls, which is leading the Gentile Believers Away from Christ and Away from The Salvation of Christ. The Apostles then clearly state that they, the Apostles, have never commanded that anyone under the covenant of Grace keep the laws of Moses.
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
Comment: The Apostles tells us in verse 28 that the Holy Ghost had instructed the Apostles that they only had to keep the commands to abstain from the item listed in verses 20 and 29. The teaching of anything else will Subvert your souls. And such is this warning from the Most Holy Word of God to follow the New Covenant of God with Man, the Covenant of Grace, and not the Covenant of the Law of Moses. Those who follow the Law of Moses are Rejecting Jesus Christ. Those who follow the new Covenant of Grace, be they Jew or Gentile, have accepted Jesus Christ as The Word of God and the Messiah.
Now Please pray to our Most Holy Lord God Jesus Christ for guidance in believing the word as given to us in the Bible (KJV)
