Yes, we can heal the sick. And that God heals THROUGH us. We do not take the glory because it is God's power that flows FROM INSIDE OF OUR SPIRIT to the outside by the laying of hands.
Most biblical healing is done not through prayer, but by a command spoken in faith and in the name of Jesus.
The best example is in Acts 3:6-7
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
If we go back to verse 4 and 5 we can notice something interesting;
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
Here we can see that before a healing can be received, there has to be a 'work of faith'. In the case above the lame man responded to Peter and John with just a look of 'expecting to receive something'.
Imagine that; just a look OF FAITH, OR A LOOK EXPECTING TO RECEIVE something from God is more than enough for a lame person to receive healing.
That is all it takes to receive! And if we notice carefully what Peter said to the lame man;
"Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee"
Peter KNEW that he has the power of God DWELLING INSIDE HIM. He said SUCH AS I HAVE.
That is how we are suppose to be in Christ Jesus. We are to heal the sick because we know God's healing dwells INSIDE US. Isn't it amazing? And if the sick person expect to receive it, then all we need to do is lay our hands on them and command the healing to take place!
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
That is the true power of the Church! The power of God ALREADY dwells inside everyone who believes, because the moment we are born again, our spirit is a new creature.
And this power is the same power that the Father used to raised Jesus from the dead.
Eph 1:19-20
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Therefore, healing should be done by faith through the laying on of hands. And the person to be healed at a minimum should response in faith expecting to receive the healing.
Giving thanks to God greatly increase our faith exponentially.
However, complaining and griping about our sickness only promotes unbelief.
There are times where even the Lord Jesus Himself had to put outside people who promotes unbelief before He heals. Consider the scenario below;
Mark 5
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
In verse 40 Jesus had to deal with unbelief. He had to put people who had unbelief OUTSIDE of the room.
Unbelief is the key hindrances of receiving healing. If Jesus had to deal and put away unbelief, then we also should do the same and get rid of every elements of unbelief before we heal a person or receive a healing from God.
