I would like to share two testimonies of how God answered prayer in my life.
Feb 2004 at 3:15 am I woke up hearing the voice of my oldest daughter Marie calling me Dad! Dad! It sounded like a cry for help. Speaking out loud I asked God “Lord why do I hear my daughter’s voice calling for me?” The Lord said “she needs prayer Satan is attacking her with temptation.” I tried to wake up my wife to have her help me pray for Marie, however after listening to me my wife said you pray I’m going back to sleep. I said I will pray with the Holy Spirit! I was not discouraged since God has called me to pray many times during the day or night for people whom I have never met, and so I went into the living room to pray. I got on my knees and asked God “Lord what type of temptation is it?” The Lord said “immoral temptation.” I let the Holy Spirit lead me into prayer. I began by saying Lord protect her! Lord you have bless her with a good husband, a man who loves her, Lord this man loves her and she loves him, they are so happy together. Many similar words followed. Then I prayed in the spirit, all together I prayed for a little over an hour then the Lord said “it is done!” I gave thanks and praise to God. I felt so much peace I didn’t give it a second thought I went straight to bed and slept like a baby. In the morning my wife sent Marie an Email asking what’s happening over there your Dad heard something in the spirit last night. Over there by the way was an army base in Iraq, my daughter who is now a Staff-sergeant; was at the time a Sergeant in the Air force on duty helping to set up a base. My daughter replied said she could not speak of it now but would explain when she returns to the states. A month later Marie came home, thank God! I spoke to my daughter and asked her what happened on that day. It was 3:15 am our time and about 1:15 pm her time in Iraq. Marie said she was hanging out with these people (other soldiers) and suddenly they all began to pressure her into coming to this party, saying that this guy really liked her and wanted to meet her. Marie kept refusing; however they would not stop and said what happens in Iraq stays in Iraq. Marie got mad and got into her jeep and drove around the base. Marie drove for a little over an hour about the same amount of time I had prayed for her. Marie said she spoke to God and said, God you have bless me with a good husband, a man who loves me, God this man loves me and I love him, we are so happy together, along with other similar words. Marie decided to not go to the party and to stop hanging around with these people. I believe as Satan rose up individuals to attack and temp my daughter, Jesus rose up many intercessors to pray against this attack. As I have said, I have been called to pray before by the Lord, this time it was for my own daughter. Praise be to God who watches over each of us and our children. This is the second testimony of how God answered prayer. In July of 2004 my Dad Elias R. Calbillo moved to Yuma Arizona because of his arthritis, which seems to stop hurting in the warmer weather. All my brothers, sisters, and I asked him not to move there because he was 76 years old and we had no family or any one there to help him. My Dad Elias would not listen to any of us and moved anyway. Elias lost his drivers license because of his eye sight and had his cleaning lady pack up his things and moved him to Yuma. My Dad called me that same week in July; he asked me to come and pick up the cleaning lady and bring her back to Lompoc. I said okay I would, since having already expressed my feelings on his move I did not say any more. My concern for my Father increased as I made the 7 hour drive to Yuma, especially after passing the Salton Sea. All I saw on that last leg of the journey was desert! Looking at the sand rocks desert bushes, the Holy Spirit led me into prayer and I began to pray. Lord please help my father, he’s like a rock in the middle of the desert, if something should happen to him who will help him? Lord he’s all alone with no family or friends to help him, please oh Lord help him! After praying that prayer I wondered why I had said my Dad was like a rock in the desert not realizing at the time the Holy Spirit had caused me to say that strange prayer. I continued to pray for my father, hoping for his return. Two months later in September on a Sunday morning at 6 am my father called me on the phone. My Dad was crying on the phone, and I don’t recall ever having seen my father cry. Elias said “Dan you’re not going to believe me but I am going to tell you any way.” I said okay Papa tell me. My father said at about 2 am while he was sleeping in his twin bed, lying on his side facing the wall he woke up when someone sat on his bed. Elias said he was so scared, but had to turn to see who sat on his bed. Elias said as he opened his eyes he saw that a bright white light had filled the room. Elias said he saw my mother surrounded by this bright white light sitting there on the bed young and beautiful looking at him. My mother Benita whose name means blessed died in Sept of 1999. This is what my mother said to my father, according to what my father said to me. Negro (my mother’s pet name for my father because he was a dark skinned Latino) Negro I don’t like how you are living here all alone by yourself. You are like a rock in the middle of the desert, if something should happen to you who will help you? You have no family or friends here who will help you when you need help? Dan and Elias JR are back in Lompoc I think you should go back to Lompoc so you can be close to them, so that they can help you when you need help. My father said he spoke to my mother for sometime; however he would not tell any more than what I shared with you. My Dad did add that my mothers final words to him were “I have to go now but I will see you again when the Lord comes for you.” Finally my Dad said Dan will you come and pick me up, I want to come back to Lompoc? I said to my Dad yes I believe you, and yes I will come to pick you up. Oh how I thanked and praised God. When I heard him say how my mother said you are like a rock in the middle of the desert, I remembered my little prayer while driving in the desert back in July. Oh how faithful is Jesus to answer a prayer even when I had almost had forgotten the very words, Jesus marks ours words and always remembers. I never told any one my prayer, so when my father told me those words I believed him. I began to wonder why God used my mother to speak to my father and convince him to return home to Lompoc. The answer to that question became very clear when I shared the story with my brothers and sisters. Each one answered the question exactly the same way when I asked why would God use my mother, they all responded the same before I could finish, “because he wouldn’t listen to any one else!” Mother always had a way with my father. Praise God!!! A month later I was privileged to lead my Dad in the prayer of salvation and my Dad accepted Jesus. Praise God!!! I hope you enjoyed how God has blessed our family and how God answered prayer. I shared these and other stories with some men at a victory outreach rehab home, because while visiting there I became aware of how the men did not like awaking up early to pray for an hour, how they said they would run out of things to pray for. I encourage them that theirs prayers do matter and when they don’t know what to pray for; to ask the Holy Spirit to lead them in the prayer. May the Holy Spirit lead you in prayer this day |
